FFTF Interim Storage Cask

GA, teamed with Sierra Nuclear Corporation (SNC), designed and tested the Interim Storage Cask (ISC) and its handling equipment, tie-downs, and modified Westinghouse Hanford transporter for FFTF spent fuel.  FFTF spent fuel was loaded into the ISCs and transported by a heavy-haul transporter to the storage pads on the Hanford Reservation.  The ISCs are designed to the requirements of 10CFR72.  In addition, since they were transported on-site by a heavy-haul transporter, the design also met some of the requirements of 10CFR71.
